I am going to keep this one short and sweet. Ranch dressing is essentially iconic. To be quite honest, store bought ranch is fine, but it's not amazing. This five minute homemade ranch surpasses its store bought counterpart, and the best part? No blending required! As long as you have a whisk, you're golden!
This five minute homemade ranch is amazing on top of my buffalo chicken stuffed sweet potatoes, but I'm sure you have no shortage of ideas on how to use it, right? Making ranch dressing from scratch is not only simple, but it does not require a ton of ingredients. You can use either fresh or dried herbs, making this a pantry-friendly creation - so what are you waiting for?
What is Ranch Dressing?
I understand that the fascination with ranch dressing is pretty much an American / Canadian thing. I actually wasn't a huge fan of ranch dressing until I met my fiance, who puts ranch dressing on quite literally everything. Anyways, I digress! Ranch dressing is a creamy dressing, but you can make it thicker to use it as a dip too!
Buttermilk, Sour Cream or Mayonnaise Ranch
Buttermilk ranch is one of the most popular varieties, but I don't know about you, I don't have many uses for a carton of buttermilk in my fridge. I can't justify buying a carton of it just to make ranch dressing, so I make mine with a combination of sour cream and mayonnaise.
If you want to make buttermilk at home, you can mix milk with a tablespoon or so of vinegar, and let it sit. Sour cream and lemon gives the dip a good enough tang though, so you won't really miss the buttermilk!
