Why This Recipe Works
- Quick and easy: This easy frozen mango margarita is super easy to make. You can whip it up in no time and it will feel like you’re sipping a spicy frozen mango margarita right on the beach!
- Sugar, spice, and everything nice: These margarita ingredients offer a burst of fun flavor. The taste of sweet mangos and simple syrup paired with the tajin seasoning creates the perfect blend of sugar and spice! Impress guests with these easy mango margaritas!
- No ice needed! Frozen fruit is a fantastic way to make a slushie cocktail, without having to buy bags of ice!
Ingredients
- Gold tequila - I like to use gold tequila in a frozen mangorita as it tends to have a smoother, sweeter flavor to it.
- Fresh lime juice - While it may be labor intensive, I highly suggest using freshly squeezed lime juice as a base for these margaritas. The flavor will be more bright, citrusy, and refreshing.
- Simple syrup - You can buy pre-mixed simple syrup, or make your own by simmering equal parts of sugar and water.
- Mango juice - When adding the mango to your frozen mangorita, you can use anything that has concentrated mango flavor including nectar or pulp.
- Frozen mango - This is a great way to replace ice in your mango margarita recipe. This adds a smoother texture and more mango flavor.
- Tajin seasoning - Use this chili lime seasoning blend around the rim of the glass to add a little heat to your drink and explosion of flavor. You can find it with Latin ingredients in the grocery store.

Substitutions
- Tequila: If you prefer a punchier flavor to your chili lime mango margarita, you can use silver tequila. Feel free to use any brand that you prefer.
- Lime juice: If you are absolutely in a rush, or do not have any fresh limes, feel free to use sour mix or limeade. However, a lime wedge to place on the rim is always a nice touch!
- Simple syrup: You can use agave syrup or agave nectar in place of simple syrup.
- Frozen mango: If you don’t like frozen mango chunks, you can use fresh mangoes and ice cubes instead.
- Tajin:For the rim of the top of your glass with regular salt if you are looking for a little less flavor and spice. To create your own chili salt rim, you can also include a little chili powder to your salt mixture. This will still give you a spicy kick but you can control the level of spice. Sea salt can work as well. It all depends on your preference!
Variations
- Rum-based: While margaritas are tequila based, if you are more of a fan of rum, feel free to use it!
- Spice: Add some tajin to the actual cocktail, for a spicy twist in the drink.
- On the rocks: Instead of blending this margarita, shake it with fresh ice, and add some chunks of frozen pineapple for extra cooling and flavor.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Prep Work Before Cooking
Collecting all your ingredients - This will make cooking so much easier. Gather all the spices you will need, and keep them nearby.
- Using a wedge of lime, rim the glasses with lime juice. Dip the glass, lime juice side down, into a plate filled with tajin seasoning. Swish the glass around until the seasoning has adhered to the glass. Repeat for the other glass, and set aside.
- Add all the ingredients to a blender.
- Blend the mangoritas together on high power, until the fruit has broken down and the consistency is smooth.
- Serve and enjoy!
Expert Tip
If you like more of a chunky slushie, add in crushed ice to the blender. The frozen fruit will make a great, thick mangorita, but you will likely not have the same crystalline texture that you will get with ice.
To make these kid friendly, omit the alcohol. You may want to add some ice to give it more of a “mocktail” vibe, rather than a smoothie!
Make Ahead & Storage
Make Ahead Instructions
This is such a quick and easy recipe, there isn’t really a need to make it ahead but you can mix it a day ahead of time. Just ensure it’s mixed in a container that has a cover or that you can cover tightly with plastic wrap.
Storing Leftovers
As mentioned above, store in a container that you can cover and keep in the fridge. Fresh fruit juice can last up to three days when stored properly.
