Where is Garlic Bread From?
Believe it or not, garlic bread as we typically know it is a North American dish. Traditional Italian garlic bread is made by rubbing a clove of garlic on toasted bread. This method gives the bread a hint of garlic flavour.
The North American variety is what we have commonly grown to love - emphasis on the love part for me, especially. Melty butter, pungent garlic, and honestly sometimes an ungodly amount of cheese, is what comes to mind when we think Garlic bread. Honestly, I'm not even mad at it.
What Seasoning is on Garlic Bread?
You can make a classic garlic bread with pantry ingredients! The spread for garlic bread is made with salted butter, fresh garlic, fresh parsley, and usually some parmesan cheese.
To jazz up the seasoning, you can also use roasted garlic for a sweeter and more mellow garlic flavour. However, if you prefer a little spice, try adding red chilli flakes to the mix! The options are truly endless.
If you want to go the cheesy route, try topping your garlic bread with mozzarella or provolone cheese. You cannot go wrong with fresh parmesan cheese, too!
