This feisty greek-style feta dip is an easy to make, full of flavour dip. Packed with the right amount of spice, tang, and saltiness, you will find yourself spreading this on anything, and everything. All you need is your favourite feta, some peppers, and 25 minutes!
I don't really need an excuse to eat toasted pitas or baguettes, let's be real here. Does it help to have a tangy, addictive dip? Absolutely.
This spicy greek feta dip is a spin on a classic dish called tirokafteri. Tirokafteri is a popular choice on mezze platters, alongside tangy tzatziki, smokey eggplant dip, and spicy harissa hummus.
Traditionally, this dip is made with salty feta cheese, roasted peppers and olive oil. This version gets a creamy twist with some mayonnaise, and yellow hot peppers for a kick.

Ingredients
- Feta cheese: I recommend using sheep's milk or goat's milk feta cheese for the best flavour.
- Red bell pepper: Red bell peppers have the right amount of sweetness for this dip.
- Yellow hot peppers: Some may call these banana peppers. These peppers are the perfect balance of tangy and spicy. They are not overly spicy, though.
- Mayonnaise: Use good quality mayonnaise for this recipe.
- Red wine vinegar: This is a traditional ingredient in this dip.
- Fresh garlic: Fresh garlic adds the necessary punch and intensity of flavour in this dip.

START WITH...
Collecting all your ingredients - This will make cooking so much easier. Gather all the spices you will need, and keep them nearby.
Add the red bell pepper and yellow hot peppers to an air fryer basket. Spray with cooking spray, and air fry for 20 minutes at 390°F. Air fry until the skin of the peppers is charred.
Once the peppers are charred, let them cool down.Carefully remove the skin from the peppers. Scrape the seeds out of the red bell pepper. Keep the seeds in for the hot yellow peppers for a kick of spice.
Add all the ingredients to a food processor. Pulse until the dip is smooth.
Serve with a drizzle of olive oil, and garnish with kalamata olives if you wish!
Expert Tip
To expedite peeling the skin off of the peppers, transfer the peppers to a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. The steam will separate the skin from the peppers, and will peel off easily!
Substitutions
- Hot yellow peppers: If you cannot find these peppers, you can use red jalapeño peppers, or simply use some red chilli flakes for spice.
- Red peppers: If you do not have time to roast the peppers fresh, feel free to use jarred red peppers.
- Red wine vinegar: Substitute with white vinegar.
- Fresh garlic: Garlic powder will work in place of fresh garlic.
