This makes these beans perfect for any meal, and more importantly, gives you many options to customize these sliders.
They can be made ahead! The pulled pork can be made in an Instant Pot or a crockpot, and can be made ahead and heated prior to serving. This makes for a great make-ahead meal! If you are looking for other make-ahead slider recipes, these grilled onion and cheddar sliders are perfect, too!
Store-bought shortcuts are welcome! This pulled pork recipe welcomes delicious store-bought ingredients, so making a homemade barbecue sauce is not necessary!
Recipe Overview
Flavour: The pulled pork has a savoury, smokey flavour from our favourite barbecue sauce. The Bush’s® Baked Beans add a touch of sweetness to the topping that goes great with barbecue sauce and barbecue flavours. For an interesting twist, top with some honey lime coleslaw, for a great bright and creamy contrast!
Ease: All-day barbecue is delicious, but it does not have to always be that complicated! A quick sear is the most work that is required of this pulled pork. Once the pork is pressure cooked, all you need to do is pull it apart with two forks. It is really that effortless.
Time: These pulled pork sliders can be on your table in just under one hour!
Ingredients and Substitutions
Pork shoulder: Tougher cuts of meat are perfect for pulled pork. Once they are cooked properly (either slowly, or in a pressure cooker) they are easy to shred apart. Pork shoulder also has a good amount of fat, which allows for a juicier pulled pork. It also is cost-effective!
All-purpose meat seasoning: My all-purpose meat seasoning is a wonderful way to add flavour to a variety of meats, and it goes well with the pork shoulder. If you have a preferred barbecue seasoning on hand, that will also work!
Chicken broth: When cooking in the Instant Pot, you need to put a decent amount of liquid in the pot to avoid the dreaded “BURN” notice. Chicken broth is a great way to add some flavour while keeping the meat moist. I recommend using reduced-sodium chicken broth, so you can control the salt on your own.
Barbecue sauce: You can use your favourite barbecue sauce for this recipe, or my homemade honey garlic barbecue sauce if you wish to go the homemade route!
Bush’s® Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans: To complete the ultimate pork and beans combination, these pulled pork sliders are topped with delicious Bush’s® Brown Sugar Hickory Baked Beans. Bush’s® Beans have the most amazing depth of flavour, with premium quality ingredients, so you can really taste the difference in every bite. Because of the variety of beans that Bush’s® offers, you can customize this topper to your liking, including Maple Style and Sweet & Tangy. You can also serve them as a side dish with the sliders instead!
Instructions
- Season the pork: Cut the pork shoulder into even size cubes. Season liberally with the all-purpose rub, or your rub of choice. Massage the rub in well.

- Assemble the sliders: Cut your brioche buns or Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Layer the pulled pork on the bottom buns, and add the top of the buns. Brush with butter, and bake for 10 minutes at 350°F.

I made these sliders without the beans, just because my family doesn't like them much. The pork was so full of flavor, and was suuuuper tender! My husband asks me to make these for any game day now.
