Lebanese Shish Tawook Skewers

These grilled Lebanese chicken shish tawook skewers are a great way to spice up humble boneless skinless chicken. With bold middle eastern flavors and lots of warm spices, these middle eastern chicken skewers are going to be a family favorite without a doubt!

Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken breasts cut into 1-1.5 inch cubes
  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup Olive oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon Tomato paste
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon Paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 Red onion cut into large chunks

Instructions

  • Add the cubed chicken, yogurt, seasonings and spices to a large bowl. 
    4 Chicken breasts, ¼ cup Greek yogurt, ¼ cup Olive oil, 4 cloves Garlic, 1 teaspoon Tomato paste, ¼ teaspoon Turmeric, ½ teaspoon Paprika, ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • Using tongs or your hands, combine the chicken with the marinade. Be sure to mix the yogurt and the spices together well, so each piece of chicken is properly coated. 
  • Let the chicken marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes, to a maximum of a few hours. 
  • Thread the chicken pieces onto bamboo or metal skewers, alternating between chunks of red onion and chicken.

  • Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Spray the grill pan with oil cooking spray.
  • Place the skewers of chicken on the grill pan, and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165°F on a meat thermometer.
